Unknown Specials Christmas Countdown #5: Prep & Landing

So, now that we've peaking of shorts where elves get Christmas done, try Prep & Landing (2009) from our corporate overlords, Disney. Lasseter produces the film and the music is by Michael Giacchino, yes, the Incredibles and Rogue One Giacchino, and features the most clever and subtle adult jokes Disney has ever created. Elves stalk into the homes ala Splinter Cell or Metal Gear and prepare for the gifts Santa is leaving and the reindeer land an insanely fast sleigh. The story is predictable but the setting and idea is unique, besides the next entry, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. It uses a short format because the story works better for it, and I’m glad they kept it that way. There are 3 episodes, two on their own DVD, one on the Disney Shorts Collection 2, which also features the Matchstick girl if you want something beautiful and depressing.
