Now that we've talked about Lamb Chop's Hanukkah, let's move along to some Christmas specials! How about one starring
the avengers? You heard me right! Marvel Super Hero Adventures: Frost Fight! (2015) features Loki trying to
find the ancient Norse Elf Santa Claus and steal his power, Rocket Raccoon and
Groot trying to collect on Loki’s false bounty for capturing St. Nick, Iron Man
scrooging the whole time, and Hulk trying to explain Christmas to Thor so they
can replace the jolly old elf, if necessary.
The animation isn’t the best, the main character is Reptile of all people, but the teen titan wannabe manages to show sincere love of the Christmas spirit. And it manages to be the right kind of ridiculous, never taking the story of super heroes finding Father Christmas too seriously. It also features Captain Marvel, which made me excited for the prospect of seeing a Marvel movie starring a female hero. With that, the film features the most hilarious and refreshing interpretation of Mrs. Claus I’ve ever seen. Think about it: they turned her into a white-haired adrenaline junky on a rocket-powered sleigh. Hilarious. Yes, it’s silly, over the top, ludicrous, and cashing in on the popularity of the franchise, but it’s still incredibly fun to watch.
